Q. Where can I find a MasterCard card that has the interest rate or special benefits program to fit my lifestyle?

A: MasterCard International is an association of banks and financial institutions. We do not issue cards directly, but we'd like to put you in touch with one of our member institutions that does.

You can find a card that's right for you, then apply online through our expanding list of online member institutions.

Not all MasterCard issuers are represented on this list. For complete information, please contact your preferred bank or financial institution directly. The application procedures and approval policies will vary depending on the financial institution issuing the card.

Q: What factors are considered when my application is reviewed?

A:  Approval policies vary depending on the financial institution issuing the card. Your employment and your credit histories are among those things that will be considered when you apply for any card.

Many financial institutions rely on information from credit reporting agencies. MasterCard is not affiliated with these agencies and we do not advise members on how to use the information they obtain from credit reporting agencies. In addition to providing telephone customer service, some card-issuing members maintain Web sites that include information about MasterCard products and services.

Visit our Find A Card section to see if an institution you're interested in is listed. If you have comments or questions for a member that does not currently have a Web site or is not listed in our directory, please contact the member institution directly.

Q: Where can I find a low-interest rate MasterCard?

A: Interest rates are set independently by each financial institution that issues MasterCard products. Rates sometimes vary widely, so take the time to shop around

Q: How do I request a larger line of credit for my credit card account?

A: The best approach for requesting a larger line of credit is to talk to the financial institution that issued your card. If you don't know the number, check your statement or look on the back of your card, since many issuers list a toll-free number there.

Q: Where can I get a list of MasterCard/Cirrus ATM locations?

A: The MasterCard/Cirrus ATM network is the largest in the world, giving you immediate access to cash wherever you go. To locate an ATM in a particular place, try out ATM Locator, or within Canada and the U.S., call 1–800–4CIRRUS (1–800–424–7787). Outside Canada and the U.S., contact your financial institution.

Q: How do I get emergency assistance from MasterCard while travelling?

A: MasterCard provides many services to assist you whether you're close to home or half way around the world. Look through our Lost or Stolen Cardarea that will lead you to listings of toll-free Global Service™ phone numbers around the world.

Q: How can I find out information about my existing MasterCard accounts (such as changing contact information or requesting additional cards)?

A: All account-specific information is managed by the financial institution that issued your card. Contact the customer service department of your financial institution directly. This contact information can usually be found on the back of your MasterCard or on your billing statement.

Q: Can I get access to my MasterCard account information over the Internet?

A: Some financial institutions that issue MasterCard cards have Internet capabilities; others do not. To find out about your financial institution's Internet capabilities, or to find a MasterCard member financial institution with specific Internet capabilities, contact the customer service department of your financial institution directly. This contact information can usually be found on the back of your MasterCard or on your billing statement.

Some card-issuing members maintain Web sites which include information about MasterCard products and services. Visit our Find A Card area to see if an institution you're interested in is listed. If you have comments or questions for a member that does not currently have a Web site, or is not listed in our directory, forward them to the member institution directly.

Q: How can I do my banking online (such as check account balance, pay bills, transfer funds)?

A: Some financial institutions that issue MasterCard cards have Internet capabilities; others do not. To find out about your financial institution's Internet capabilities, or to find a MasterCard member financial institution with specific Internet capabilities, contact the customer service department of your financial institution directly. This contact information can usually be found on the back of your MasterCard or on your billing statement.
